Suppose your school’s IT staff splits its time between fixing network errors and repairing printers. Draw a production possibilities frontier that shows the IT department’s possible combinations of network bugs fixed and printers repaired. It takes longer to fix each additional printer because more time needs to be devoted to keeping the workspace organized and eventually more time is necessary to get replacement parts. Imagine that new software is released that dramatically reduces the amount of time needed to repair a network bug. Shift the production possibilities frontier to reflect this change in technology. (Assume that the new software has no effect on the amount of time needed to repair a printer.)
