Inductor was made using a PVC pipe with a diameter of 0.625 inches, 100 turns and the width of the windings along the length of the inductor was measured to equal 0.255 inches. a. Calculate the theoretical inductance of this inductor recognizing that μo=4π∙10^-7 H/m and that μr≈1 for air.
b. The magnetic wire used for the windings was made out of copper (sigma = 5.96 x10^7 S/m). The diameter of the wire was measured to be 4x10^-3 inches in diameter. Calculate the theoretical resistance of the copper wire used to make the inductor. How does your calculated value compare to the measured value of 13.6 Ohm?

For the closed feedwater heater below, feedwater enters state 3 at a pressure of 2000 psia and temperature of 420 °f at a rate of ix10 ibhr. the feedwat extracted steam enters state 1 at a pressure of 1000 psia and enthalpy of 1500 btu/lbm. the extracted er leaves at an enthalpy of 528.7 btu/lbm steam leaves as a saturated liquid. (16) a) determine the mass flow rate of the extraction steam used to heat the feedwater (10) b) determine the terminal temperature difference of the closed feedwater heater

At steady state, air at 200 kpa, 325 k, and mass flow rate of 0.5 kg/s enters an insulated duct having differing inlet and exit cross-sectional areas. the inlet cross-sectional area is 6 cm2. at the duct exit, the pressure of the air is 100 kpa and the velocity is 250 m/s. neglecting potential energy effects and modeling air as an 1.008 kj/kg k, determine ideal gas with constant cp = (a) the velocity of the air at the inlet, in m/s. (b) the temperature of the air at the exit, in k. (c) the exit cross-sectional area, in cm2
