An attic truss is a steeply angled truss that carves out living space between its two top chords. It is commonly used for gable-roof homes with attic living spaces. Why would gables often be used for an attic truss? Using gables allows for the use of a bottom chord.
Gables help make the construction less expensive.
The roof peak would be too steep without gables.
The living space would be extremely narrow without gables.
