A small size cooling tower is designed to cool 6 litres of water per second, the inlet temperature of which is 50 °C. The motor driven fan induces 10 m3/s of air through the tower and the power absorbed is 5.15 kW. The air entering the tower is at 18 °C, and has a relative humidity of 60 %. The air leaving the tower can be assumed to be saturated and its temperature is 26 °C. Assume that pressure remains constant throughout the tower at 1.013 bar. Calculate: a) The amount of cooling water (make-up) required per second
b) The final temperature of the water

At steady state, air at 200 kpa, 325 k, and mass flow rate of 0.5 kg/s enters an insulated duct having differing inlet and exit cross-sectional areas. the inlet cross-sectional area is 6 cm2. at the duct exit, the pressure of the air is 100 kpa and the velocity is 250 m/s. neglecting potential energy effects and modeling air as an 1.008 kj/kg k, determine ideal gas with constant cp = (a) the velocity of the air at the inlet, in m/s. (b) the temperature of the air at the exit, in k. (c) the exit cross-sectional area, in cm2

Two microscope slides are placed horizontally, one on top of the other, with a drop of a dishwashing liquid between them. the gap between the slides is 1 mm. a machine pulls the top slide to the right with a velocity of 0.15 millimeters per second while the bottom slide is held stationary. a stress gage indicates that a shearing stress of 0.5 pa is required to pull the top slide with this velocity. if the dishwashing liquid adheres to both slides during this process, what is the viscosity of the liquid? specify whether your answer is dynamic or kinematic viscosity, and use appropriate units.
