Milk at a flow rate of 250 L/h and at a temperature of 390 C is to be cooled less for safe storage. Ground water at 100 C is available at 720 L/h. The density and specific heat of milk are 1030 kg/m3 and 3860 J/kg-K respectively. The corresponding values for water are 1000 kg/m3 and 4200 J/kg-K respectively. (a) (7 points) If the effectiveness is 0.9, determine the UA for a shell and tube heat exchanger with one shell pass (water) and one tube pass (milk)with 10 tubes/pass required for the chilling process.
