Vertical Alignment for an overpass. A road and bridge are being reconstructed to provide for an increase in grade separation from a high-speed train line. The vertical curve provides for an overpass across railroad tracks that are located from Station 85 70 to Station 86 30, The VPT of the equal tangent vertical curve is at Station 100 00. with elevation 320 ft and a tangent with gradient -4 percent. The gradient at the VPC is 2.5 percent. The maximum elevation of the curve will occur at Station 86-00. Find the station and elevation of VPC and the elevation of the bridge at 86 00 relative to the elevation of VPT. Find (a) the length of the curve: (b) The station of VPC, (c) The elevation at VPC, and (d) The height of the curve at the railroad bridge, Sta 86 00. (e) Assuming a desired design speed of 70 mph, determine if the vertical curve design meets SSD standards.

True or false (explain) (110)[111] is a slip system in bcc metals . the {111} family in fcc contains 8 planes. resolved shear stress (rss) in single crystals is just related to the applied stress. critical resolved shear stress (crss) in single crystal metals is direct proportional to the number of defects in the structure

Air enters a horizontal, constant-diameter heating duct operating at steady state at 290 k, 1 bar, with a volumetric flow rate of 0.25 m°/s, and exits at 325 k, 0.95 bar. the flow area is 0.04 m2. assuming the ideal gas model with k = 1.4 for the air, determine (a) the velocity at the inlet and exit, each in m/s, and (c) the rate of heat transfer, in kw flow rate, in kg/s, (b) the mass kg 0.3
