Figure 7 show a process for the production of product X. A feed of raw materials is
first heated up in furnace A and the catalytically converted to an intermediate in
reactor B; CO 2 is released. The intermediate is cooled, mixed with hydrogen at high
pressure and then converted to the end-product in a highly exothermic reaction in
shell and tube reactor C. After cooling the resultant mixture of water, product and
unreacted hydrogen is separated in separator D. Hydrogen is recycled.
