2. (a) Calculate the actual temperature of exhaust gas from a diesel engine if the measuring thermocouple reads 500oC and the exhaust pipe is 350oC. The emissivity of thermocouple is 0.7 and the convective heat transfer coefficient of the flow over thermocouple is 200 w/m2-oC. (b) Assume a shield is used to reduce the error. If the shield temperature is about 460oC, calculate the error in output temperature. (Problem 9.39 and 9.41on page 335)
