Why can a house be called a home but a mouse can't me called a mome?

Haha funny question but if im answering correctly it is because its not proper grammar in the english language. Who knows? Haha, have a good one :)

A house is a building or structure where as home is a place that a person lives.

Mouse is single

Mice is a mutated plural of mouse, which basically means as stated on the site Quick and Dirty Tips “you form these mutated plurals simply by changing the vowel sound of singular, in a process called ‘umlaut’.”

I really can’t tell you more than that but what can I say English is weird
