What was the intended purpose of revolutionary pamphlets and articles

The intended purpose was to rally up the colonists so they would all agree to rebel against their mother country. The pamphlet was written in one language so that pretty much everyone in the colony could understand it. It was also published anonymously. It was a key role in leading to the American Revolution that very summer.
