Today's hero is Luke Skywalker from Star Wars. He is the leading force of the Rebels on the saga.

One of his many qualities are courage, honor, loyalty, beyond human abilities and he is willing to die defending his principles, just like Beowulf.

In the poem, the reign of Hrothgars is being threatened by the villain Grendel. And the people from Hrothgars desperately needs a hero.

Beowulf begins his deeds and fights monsters and enemies. He then decides to kill Grendel's mother. Through his quest, Beowulf chooses his men to face Grendel evil and the journey to do so is full of danger and supernatural creatures.

Just like Luke Skywalker in the story of Star Wars, he is the leading face of the Rebels, who are being under attack by the Empire, best-known as the Dark side of the Force.

As Beowulf promises to defend the reign of Hrothgars, the poem reflects values such as respect, courage, honor, and commitment in the timeless confrontation between good and evil, represented by Beowulf and Grendel. Exactly the way Luke and Darth Vader represents the Light and the Dark side of the Force.
