What is the subject and theme in literature and what is one central theme in the exercise by bernard mccavera short story

i don’t know the story but to answer the fiest question about theme and   subject . theme is a debatable opinion about a subject while the subject is a topic the author deside's to stick with and use through out the book and in his/her writing
