How does dickens present christmas as being special in a christmas carol

In A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens presents a number of perspectives on family, from the love that the Cratchits show one another, to the distance between Scrooge and Fred. The Ghost of Christmas Past reminds Scrooge of the importance of family when he takes Scrooge back to his life as an isolated young child.
