What is oedipus's response to tiresias's refusal, and then later, to his accusations?

He tries to choke him with Tiresias's walking stick, and he thinks he is crazy yet later when he finds out what Tiresias says was true he finds proof which leads to the suicide of Jocasta his mother/wife and he gags his eyes out with her dress pins (I don't know what they are called) later on he is exiled.

When Oedipus asks Tiresia to tell him who murdered Laius, Tiresia refuses to tell him. He says that he knows the truth but he can't tell him. So, Oedipus gets angry and starts to insult him in order to provoke him to tell the truth. Oedipus also accuses Tiresia of being the murderer and after that Tiresia is compelled to tell him the truth: that Oedipus himself is the curse, that he is the murderer. Oedipus gets even angrier after that and starts to insult Tiresia again and he also accuses him of having conspired with Creon in order to overthrow him.  

As we can see, in both cases Oedipus's response is fury and anger, refusal to see the truth and also an attack to Tiresia.

c is a symbol. when bernice gets her hair cut, it is the authors way of showing the affects and demands of pier pressure and the over-all attitudes of people at the time.

as for symbolic actions, the narrator's tearing down the wallpaper in an attempt to find the "woman" in the wallpaper represents her struggle to retain or regain her sanity.   the wallpaper has been part of her confinement and by her tearing it down, she is freeing herself from that confinement.
