Read the excerpt from "in response to executive order 9066". of course i’ll come. i’ve packed my galoshes and three packets of tomato seeds. denise calls them love apples. my father says where we’re going they won’t grow. the father’s comment in this stanza lends the poem a tone of playfulness. irony. formality. hopelessness.

The correct answer is  hopelessness.

It is obvious from his comment that the future might not be very bright should they go there. Tomato seeds not growing where they are going can be extended to the idea that absolutely nothing flourishes in that place and that everything is hopeless and negative should they decide to go there.

i go to the store and buy some cheese,suddenly there was akward silence.   out of no where comes a ninja, and he takes an apple, and chokes the cashier, until he passes out.   the disapeared in a puff of smoke.   the cashier went to the doctor, and everything was fine again.   they all lived happily ever after without anymore ninjas.
