Answer - The Virginia statues was a statement that talked about freedom and conscience of why the church seperated. Thomas Jeferson wrote it whcih was passed by the general assembly of Virginia on January 16, 1786. It was part of the first ammendmant that protected religious freedom.

         The Declaration of Independence, which had been a document drafted, co-written, and signed by the committee consisting of several prevalent historical figures known as Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Roger Sherman, and Robert R. Livingston. This document was written in 1776 and signed on August 2nd of the same year, and the primary message of the document was to demand independence from Britain for the thirteen colonies of North America. This document, although it focuses more on the Americas gaining freedom from their former rulers, Great Britain, contained many religious references in order to be more convincing and show Britain that the thirteen colonies deserved to be independent as given by God. In the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom, Jefferson still held the same beliefs about religion that everyone should be given the right to practice it freely, no matter what they may worship. This document was later established as the First Amendment to the Constitution because of its importance in freedom.
