call of the wild essay

this is about a book called call of the wild. it was written by jack london is a “american novelist, journalist, and social activist. a pioneer in the world of commercial magazine fiction, he was one of the first writers to become a worldwide celebrity and earn a large fortune from writing - wikipedia”. he has written at least 19 books so far. but this book he wrote in 1903 and the book takes place yukon, canada during the 1890s during the klondike gold rush. the story is about a dog who is named buck who has a great life with judge miller till one day life has to change. when he is kidnaped and shown the harsher side of the world and has to adjust to life to survive what life throws at him. then in the end life is fair and gives him the the better of the doubt. i think that if i was buck i would be scared and act differently because i have never been in such position or situation.
now i kinda already gave away a bit in the introduction, but the story starts out as it introduces buck and who he lives with. well, buck is a st. bernard-scotch shepherd dog who was 4 years old and lived in california's santa clara valley as the pet of judge miller. however, since gold was found in the yukon and its very snowy; sled dogs were on high demand. so in that thought, one of miller's gardener decides to steal buck to sell him and buck is shipped north by ship. but before he is the man in red checkers teaches buck the law of the club which is: a man with a club is in charge and should not be messed with. while on the ship he meet a dog named curly who is killed by a group of huskies and makes a promise to himself to never let that happen to him. before i go onto the next thing that happens, buck is sold to theis two men frasçois and perrault that are sled men. then after while he is change to his surrounding after what he just saw, a dog named spitz doesn't get along with buck and they fight alot. until one day buck and spitz fight to see who is the boss. buck kills spitz and appoints himself as the new leader of the sled pack. now that buck is the new leader the team would actually make their trips ahead of time. the team is eventually sold to an another mail carrier who forces them to carry heavy loads which can be very tiring on the dogs. it's so harsh on the dog that one of the dogs dies. again the team is sold to some american gold hunters who are named hal, charles, and mercedes. the three are not the brightest and overload the sled so full that things fly off when they go down the hill and also they beat the dog unfairly to get them to move. to make them sound even better they also along their journey they run out of food and make the dog starve. so cause the dogs are starving and have been beating cause some of the dog to die along the journey. farther along the journey they meet a man named john thornton who was nice and warned the people that the ice is to thin to sled on and it will probably break. but, of course the people disregard what he says and try to move on, but buck unwilling to step on the ice hal beats him to get moving. then john thornton steps in and cuts buck free, the americans ignore him and keep moving on. as they move on to the ice breaks beneath them and the americans and all the dogs fall in and drown to their death in the cold, freezing water while buck and john thornton watch all this happen. later on in the story buck is devoted to john for saving him and later on buck saves john. buck

Need feedback on this, . still working on the conclusion. would a single global culture result in a better world? throughout the almost 200,000 years that humans have invaded the earth, we have created, destroyed and even forgotten cultures and ways of life that was either introduced to us or what we discovered to increase our chance of survival on this planet. every country, no matter how big or small, have certain values and beliefs that are vital to the growth and development of that nation. so, why should every country operate under the same principles just to seek common ground and unity? the issue of having a single global culture creates conflict areas between cultures. the same differences in culture can have a negative effect. “on the other hand, we find some of our dearly held values being torn apart at the roots” (karim, p.242). usually, the problems here are the loss of individualism and a sense of belonging to a group. one might object here that as operating under one culture, we have no right to feel indifferent about losing our original and unique heritage because everyone is now equal. although that may be true, being the only or one of the few members from your group is something treated as a big deal. language is a major key expression of cultural diversity. the language barrier would cause native dialect and tongues to die out. some might say this is a myth and that language can be preserved other than teaching it to the next generation. english is known to be one of the top three most spoken languages in the world just after chinese mandarin and spanish. non-english speakers most certainly use english as their second language and eventually forget how to speak their native tongue as english becomes their dominant speech. “we understand that everything is subjected to the (immutable) law of change, law of chaos or perhaps decay.” (karim, p.242). uniformity is not the key to peace and unity- tolerance of difference is. it might seem like a contradiction, but uniformity does not equal unity. unity is a factor of tolerating and embracing the unique qualities in each culture and each person. as soon as we start to say one culture, belief, or way of living is best, we exclude and divide instead of bringing people together. the world is big enough to hold an array of views, and we can still connect with our basic humanity.
