1.- right then, a horse and carriage appeared in the distance. two men were sitting inside. the robbers on the path smiled at each other.
2.- just as it seemed like the boy would lose the challenge, a small squirrel rushed in front of the carriage and came on the path first.
3.-there once was a brave young boy who lived in the countryside. he knew how to climb the tallest trees, listen to the wind, and throw the farthest stones. when he turned 16, his father gave him a special cloak and sent him out into the world. after a day, the boy reached the next village. there he heard rumors of a band of robbers who were stopping people along the path and stealing their possessions.
4.-the boy picked up his cloak and other possessions and walked down the path. the robbers were too amazed at what had just happened to stop him. the boy found a new village where he could use his skills to make a good living for himself. and the robbers never bothered him again.
5.- since the boy didn’t own much, he decided to take his chances. a mile from the village, three hooded robbers stopped him. the boy challenged them to a contest. if he won, they would have to let him go. he beat the first robber by climbing the highest tree. he beat the second robber by throwing the farthest stone. then he came up against the third robber. this man was the biggest and most cunning of them all. the boy wasn’t sure how to challenge him. then he had an idea. he challenged the third robber to guess who would come down the path next. the robber guessed that it would be a horse and carriage with two men inside. the boy listened closely to the wind. then he guessed that it would be a small squirrel. the robbers laughed at his guess.
