If wolves can be gray brown black or white why do you think they are called gray wolves

I mean, through the seasons their fur does change to blend into their surroundings a lot better. Or, it's a certain breed of wolves.

well it's a certain breed of wolves, the gray wolves are the ones u normally think of, the brown one's (i'm not being racists, tht's just what they're called) are known as Mexican wolves, the black ones are known asblack wolves lol, and the white wolves are known as snow/albino wolves, but, they can also change their fur according to the season
