In "perseus and the quest for medusa's head," why is perseus charged with the task of bringing the king the head of medusa?

I would say that none of the answer fits the real story. As far as i know, perseus was tasked by the king ( Polydectes ) to search for medusa's head in order to get rid of him ( as he wasn't able to marry perseus' mother by force as long as he's there with her ). He then came back in fury ( as he was lied to by polydectes ) and turned him into a stone. So the closes answer would B. ( but still incorrect tho )
