One Long Hour

    To many, an hour may not seem to be such a long period of time--merely sixty minutes that will simply be forgotten as soon as the following few hours come by to capture one's attention. An hour spent with the right person, however, could be beautifully timeless. The city lights were shining bright upon us as we cruised through our hometown, seeking adventures as we always were. Our first stop was the old, 50s-style retro diner. That was where I discovered that his/her laugh was my favorite sound, its brightness loud and clear as it resonated throughout the entire establishment, bouncing of the walls and bringing a smile to my face. The next stop was his/her favorite coffee shop that was right around the corner, and as always, he/she didn't hesitate to pull me up on the small, set-up stage that was brought out for karaoke night. It made me feel foolish and exhilarated all at once, but I didn't mind as long as it kept him/her smiling. Our last stop was the rooftop of his/her parent's old record store, and as we sat there in the warm summer air, I came upon a realization that wound its way into my heart, making a permanent place for itself. An hour was never worth much to me, but in just an hour tonight, I fell in love with the boy/girl who brought a particular brightness to my days.
