There are many different themes within The Ramayana. one of the most famous epic  Indian poems  Though, the necessity for people to stick to to their duty resonates through the work.  It is the veneration for one's duty is the main reason for Lord Rama to accept his banishment because a child's must always honor parents.  Rama's father, Dasaratha, is unavoidable tied  by his promise to Kaikeyi.  In fulfilling his promise to her, she is the one that gave the idea of Rama's exile. Causing great pain to him, he knows that his responsibility as a King is to respect his word.
