Common roadway hazards are Soft Edges, Manhole covers, Potholes, Debris, black ice and loose gravel.

A driver should be aware of the road conditions while driving. He should be attentive enough to look for such hazards that may come on the way. To avoid this danger, one should maintain a slow speed in areas suspected to have such challenge. In dirt roads, resist going off course when avoiding a pothole or a man hole cover. Slow speed and controlled driving will minimize the risk of encountering such situations.
