malala believed that girls everywhere should get to school, not just girls in her own country. she tells about a time when she saw a young girl who 'was scratching marks on a piece of paper with a pencil to account for the oranges she had sold, as she could not read or write'. malala probably felt sorry for this girl and wanted others to as well, so they would care about these workers not getting a chance of education. in this way, malala uses the story of this girl to persuade others to care. through stories, she makes readers care and makes them feel, which may motivate them to take action to girls learn and work toward greater equity in the world in general.
