answer-the development of technology has a direct impact on society. the impact may be positive or negative. for example, advances in medical science have increased the lifespan of people. the internet and mobile technologies people stay connected even when separated by great distances. these examples show positive influences of technology on society. a negative influence may be that society has become dependent on gadgets. technological advances have given social networking to the world, but while people stay connected in cyberspace, they sometimes forget to connect with the real people around them. some social networks also make people susceptible to getting their personal information hijacked or stolen.
the rapid industrialization and urbanization in the nineteenth century also had far-reaching effects on society. the development of science and technology in the twentieth century gave the world weapons of mass destruction. world war i and world war ii exposed society to the horrors of modern warfare. these changes in society directly affected science fiction writers. as technological advancements and social changes influenced the world, science fiction writers began to speculate about how these changes affected people as well as how future changes might shape mankind.
