What is uta-napishti’s response to gilgamesh? where should he, gilgamesh, go and what should he do? how should gilgamesh understand his own impending death and the death of all humans? if we accept that gilgamesh does gain wisdom as the poet suggests (gilgamesh was "wise in all matters" and had "learnt of everything the sum of wisdom", p. 1), what, exactly, is this wisdom? is this wisdom relevant to us today? what, if anything, do you personally see as lessons of wisdom in the epic of gilgamesh?
