What surprised me?

What surprised me was the fact that in this comic, we can see the origins of The Joker, who, besides from being a comic book villain, is also an iconic character, and nowadays is on the spotlight due to the new film in which he is the protagonist. In this story, we can also see what seems to be the last fight between Batman and The Joker, as the ending of the story doesn't clarify what happened to The Joker, which also surprised me. Finally, another fact that surprised me is that both main characters accepted the fact that they can'tkill each other because in certain way, they coexist in a sick dependence, where neither Batman nor The Joker could live without having in mind the idea of troubling the other.

What did the author think I already knew?

The author thought that I already know that The Joker and Batman are two characters that aren't so different at all, because both of them have had a cruel and difficult past, which has made them what they are until the very last scene of the book. The author also thinks that we know that The Joker is a character whose characteristics and behaviour can be considered as the ones of a "crazy person". Last but not least, the author also thinks that we know that The Joker and Batman have to chase each other continuously, as they are arch enemies.

What challenged, changed, or confirmed what I already knew?

What changed some stuff and confirmed others, whas that before reading this book, I wasn't sure about the real origins of The Joker, which I knew after reading it. What challenged me was the way in which the story is told and the events are depicted in the images, because it's so strong and graphic, that in some scenes I had to look at the page  more than once in order to understand what was happening. In some other scenes, I couldn't keep on lookiing at the pages due to the graphic violence that is shown. This book is a Masterpiece.

a bat doesn't see color very well, so its surroundings will be dulled.

it can hear super well. so maybe it can hear the insects on the ground

feelings. you can imagine how a bat would feel from its perspective. it all depends on where it lives.

maybe it can taste the salt in the air, or smell water, or something. all of these details are completely dependent on where it is located.
