i found this speech challenging and overwhelming at
first. i think my first mistake was listening to the speech all
the way through without pausing once. the second time,
remembered the strategy of pausing frequently to
summarize and "translate" johnson's words into language
that makes more sense to me.
1. write a short summary that includes the major claims and
reasons of johnson's argument.
2. evaluate the strength of those reasons and evidence.
3. was any irrelevant evidence used by johnson? if so, what
was the impact on you as the listener?
4. read your classmates' posts. compare and contrast their
views with your own.
5. what strategies did you use as you listened to the speech?
explain with specific examples.
use the discussion rubric to understand how you will be graded.
