my first day on the job

what is the central idea of the second to last paragraph of the story?

the narrator interviews people at elementary, middle, and high schools.

the narrator still has one more step to complete for her first article.

the narrator is going to complete the tasks required to write her first article.

the narrator is surprised by the range of opinions people have about the budget cuts.

the second to last paragraph :

i made the rounds, hitting elementary, middle, and high schools. as i spoke to the people who ran these schools, i learned so much about what goes into keeping a school’s doors open and all the work that goes into offering students a solid education. it made me think that my new job as a reporter was going to be easy in comparison. by the time i finished up, i’d gotten a crash course in interviewing and had received an interesting range of opinions about the budget cuts. i was already thinking about how i would open the story when i got back to the office. my last step before writing was to get comments from the governor’s office and do some research on past years when state aid was in jeopardy.

Highlight all instances of parallel structure. there is no longer any room for hope. if we wish to be free—if we mean to preserve inviolate those inestimable privileges for which we have been so long contending—if we mean not basely to abandon the noble struggle in which we have been so long engaged, and which we have pledged ourselves never to abandon until the glorious object of our contest shall be obtained—we must fight!
