Explanation:

It has been a long time since I have read the other poems in this course but I know what I have learned from them about other cultures. I learned from one of the poems that life in other countries can be extremely difficult and leaders can be corrupt and oppressive on their own people. In another poem I learned that in the US a few decades ago, gender roles were really different and society treated women with a lot less respect than they do today. In a poem about South African society I learned that peoples fear of one another based on race caused self made cages and made life hell for everyone living in fear. It is sad that racism, gender oppression, and citizen oppression exist, but it's good to know that we are becoming better at treating people equally regardless of their differences. Good things like family values have come from these times as well, and the poems remind us of the importance of emotional connection.
