Read the passage from part 2 of "for the win.”

jake had no idea how far they needed to travel. he couldn’t get his bearings, and now it was hard to see the markers. all he could think to say was, "home, sasha.” he hoped that she understood how desperately he needed her to find her way back to the safety of the checkpoint cabin. jake felt the sled pick up speed just as the blizzard closed in.

he held on tightly as ice stung his face and the wind whipped away his dog commands. he had no idea how much time passed as they raced through the swirling white snow. it could have been minutes or hours, but it felt like days. one detail that is part of the conflict in this passage is that sasha

has become too weak to continue leading the team.
is disobedient and refuses to follow jake’s orders.
does not want to pull dean and his dog on the sled.
may not understand the importance of finding her way.

"and these i address to all females that would be married, or are already so; not that i suppose their sex more faulty than the other, and most to want advice, for i assure [women], upon my honour, i believe the quite contrary; but the reason is, because i esteem them better disposed to receive and practice it, and therefore am willing to begin, where i may promise myself the best success." this statement from franklin's "rules and maxims for promoting matrimonial happiness" best demonstrates his use of criticism to argue his point his use of common sense to appeal to women his use of flattery to gain women's attention his use of facts to prove his point
