Explanation:

Homer's epic narrative "The Odyssey" tells the journey of Odysseus and his men from their way back to their hometown Ithaca. Being on a journey away from Ithaca for about twenty years, the way back home was full of conflicts and even fighting, be it with mortals or even divine beings.

Book IX of the text shows where Odysseus and his men had encountered the Cyclops Polyphemus, the son of the God Poseidon. They had been inside the Cyclops' cave when after he returned, Odysseus cleverly fooled him and saved themselves. When Polyphemus asked him about his identity, Odysseus claimed that his name is Nobody and that is what everyone calls him. This clever reply made sure that Polyphemus won't be able to know his true identity. This is evident in the next scene where Polyphemus was asked by the other Cyclops what ails him. He replied that Nobody had fooled him which made the others think that he had gone mad for he said nobody is responsible for his ailment, where he had meant the person "Nobody/ Odysseus" and not nobody.
