So you want to be a lawyer

(1) if you want to be a lawyer when you grow up, there are definitely some factors you need to consider. (2) perhaps the first thing to consider is whether you like—and are good at—taking tests. (3) to get into law school, you have to take the lsat. (4) and while you're in law school, there will be tons of tests. (5) to become a lawyer, you have to take the bar exam.
(6) perhaps you will be able to pay off that loan if you get a high-paying job out of law school. (7) but are you prepared to work long hours, seven days a week? (8) lawyers don't have the typical nine-to-five jobs. (9) if you want a social life, becoming a lawyer isn't the way to get one. (10) much personal sacrifice comes with being a lawyer, especially when you are first starting out.
(11) if tests aren't a problem, consider the large financial debt you'll accumulate from being in law school. (12) law school lasts three years. (13) the average law school graduate spends anywhere from 6 to 12 years paying off the debt he or she accumulates during those three years, depending on the kind of law he or she decides to practice.
(14) if these concerns do not faze you, then perhaps studying to become a lawyer is the right move. (15) however, if you are no longer so sure, that's okay. (16) see what interests you as an undergraduate—if politics, philosophy, and logic do not appeal to you, then you definitely will not want to go to law school. (17) and that's okay. (18) in fact, consider yourself lucky.

What is implied in this sentence from mark twain's "the £1,000,000 bank-note"? i was puzzled, and wanted to discuss the matter a little further, but they didn't; so i took my leave, feeling hurt and insulted to be made the butt of what was apparently some kind of a practical joke, and yet obliged to put up with it, not being in circumstances to resent affronts from rich and strong folk.
