Explanation:

Mark Edmundson began by congratulating the students for getting admission in the college.  But his main motive was to motivate the students to be aggressive and assertive in their education. He said that if the student doesn’t find any interest in whatever he studies, it is of no use and would only leave him dissatisfied in life. One should have passion in the field he is studying, then only he can succeed. He would lead a more fulfilling life in that case.  

So, students should challenge themselves, brainstorm, grab more opportunities in their field of study and move ahead.
