the story is raymonds run

Raymond's Run is a story about finding one's identity and helping others find theirs.

Explanation:

In the short story Raymond's run, the protagonist Squeaky realizes that her brother could be a gifted runner when she sees him keep up with her in the competitive race she wins from beyond the fence.

This makes her believe that she must help him become a competitive runner.

The difference between the theme and author's purpose on a text is not discernible most of the time as to know what an author actually meant while writing a specific text cannot be effectively made out unless an author comes out and says it.
