Rousseau and Blake come from two different eras, which will heavily impact their views on humanity. For starters, Rousseau is a leading figure for the Romanticism era. In his autobiography, Rousseau goes on to explain his belief that no matter what frailties and failings he has shown in himself, all human beings are simply good and honest. He believes that owning up to one's sins allows for acceptance, hence why he decided to share all of his deepest and darkest secrets in his autobiography. Blake, on the other hand, was more of a transition figure compared to Rousseau. Blake was in between Romanticism, the previous era, and the new and upcoming Neoclassical period. Blake believes that human life is comprised of experiences, and there is a Beast creating fear in humans to steer them away from innocence. Overall, both writers have different view points, most likely due to their difference in time.
