1) The tone of this poem is that he is also american, and is hopeful that one day he will be sitting at the kitchen table, and they'll see he is american. The lines that led me to this conclusion is the first line, "I, too, sing America" and the last line "I, too, am America".

2) Langston Hughes' life is reflected in his works because he talks a lot about racism and dreams in his poems. He seems to talk about his feeling he has and what he dreams about.
