For example, in the first chapter (Dreams), the author describes the scene as night time by describing how the boy was listening to the voice of crickets. It is commonly known for crickets to chirp during night time. So, this creates a peaceful mood in the mind of the readers.

Another example in the same Chapter (Dreams), the author describes the boy as to having heard a human music. This then changes the mood from serene to something which the boy finds thrilling.
