Writing A Funeral Speech
Do you think Caesar was a terrible leader of Rome who deserved to die? Or do you think that Caesar did a fine job leading his country, and was betrayed by his friends? Pick a character who would agree with your opinion.
You will pretend you are that character and write Caesar a funeral speech. If the character loved Caesar, really explain what Caesar did that made him adored, why he was a great Roman, and leader. If your character hated Caesar, insult him, tell why you’re glad he’s gone, and how he ruined Rome. A funeral speech is an emotional thing, so you can also talk about your character’s relationship with Caesar or their personal feelings about Caesar. Use your knowledge of the play and your creative mind. Your funeral speech does NOT have to be written in iambic pentameter or Shakespearean English - you can write in modern English for this assignment. Please write at least 5 sentences.
