Two forms of a person is presented here.  The darkness of society in England and human kind are reflected by the theme of a double moral. The atmosphere and setting are Gothic as a result of its uncomfortable and dark nature. In this, a distinct man of science can be fond of murder and a fine taste of art can be present in a violent man.
