In spite of our park’s importance, our elected officials plan to take it away from us. Everywhere in the neighborhood, you can see the posters that promote the new mall going there instead. The mall’s supporters say that it will make shopping easier for us. They say that it will bring famous shopping brands to our neighborhood. Of course, they also highlight all the new restaurants and cafes that will come with the mall. However, is this really what we want? Instead of an open, tree-filled space, they want to give us a closed space filled with stale, air-conditioned air. Furthermore, the construction of the mall will pollute our environment. We should not stand for this disrespect of our neighborhood. It is our responsibility to do something about it. If you agree with me, then join me in this effort to save our park. Each of us should send a letter or email to our city officials informing them about how much we need the park. We need to tell them a park is more important than a mall. So, what do you say? Are you ready to make a difference?
