Tides are the alternate rising and falling of large bodies of water. Tides are caused by the
gravitational pulls of the sun and the moon. In a high tide, the sea level is at its highest
point in the tidal cycle; in a low tide, the sea level is at its lowest point in the tidal cycle.
During a new or full moon, the earth, sun, and moon are lined up, which leads to spring
tides. A spring tide is when the tidal range is largest; spring tides combine the highest
high tide and the lowest low tide. During a first- or third-quarter moon, the earth, sun,
and moon form a right angle, which has the effect of creating neap tides. A neap tide is
when the tidal range is smallest.

Match causes with their effects.

aligned.
