Monday 4/6: The Diary of Anne Frank was written by a young girl, Anne, detailing her time
in a small hidden room for two years in hiding from the Nazis. In her diary Anne writes
In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart." Anne wrote this
in her diary before she was found and deported where she later perished in a gas chamber
(only her father survivied the Holocaust and a friend had saved Anne's diary). Based on
what Elie has described of the camps in memoir, do you think Anne (after she was
deported) would have believed the same thing deep in her heart? Do you think 'man' is
mostly good?
