(BRAINLIEST FOR BEST ANSWER)

Read the paragraph from a student’s narrative.

One night after a terrible storm, the good sea monster came upon a young boy floating on a plank in the ocean. He was the only survivor of a shipwreck. The good sea monster approached the boy and, when the boy understood he would not be harmed, he climbed on the sea monster’s back. The sea monster carried the boy to the shore of a deserted island. Each day, the good sea monster would visit the boy on the island and bring him various things he would need to live, like boxes of food, furniture, and blankets. The boy realized the monster was bringing him things from the sunken ship that he had been traveling on. “I wish you were a person, so I could thank you,” the boy said to the sea monster. “I am person,” the good sea monster replied. And before his eyes, the boy watched the sea monster change into an old man. “I was once a great king, but I was tuned into a sea monster as punishment for my selfish ways,” the old man explained.

Which conclusion should the writer add that best follows from the events in the story?

A) “Because I have helped you and gained nothing for myself, your wish has returned me to my original form. I have learned my lesson and I hope you have learned one too.”

B) The old man told the boy that, because he was once a king, he was now in charge of everything that happened on the island and the boy would need to follow orders.

C) The boy was surprised, but he was not very interested in the old man’s story. Instead, he wondered what else he could make happen simply by wishing for it.

D) “When I was a king, I had a great palace and many workers who did everything for me. I had many possessions but always wanted more. Now I can return and claim what is mine.”
