“It was something that was very, very much a part of me. I really, really believed in the Movement,” she said. “[W]hen we would leave out of the meeting, it was just like we needed to do something right then.”

They soon figured out what they could do. In addition to attending the weekday mass meetings, they would participate in Saturday-morning training sessions where young activists were taught the two funda­mental precepts of the civil rights move­ment.
