Read the passage.

As soon as I sat down at the lunch counter, Mavis was headed for me. I started to lean toward the counter but had to pull back as she wiped
the space in front of me one more time. I told her I'd like a coffee and the macaroni special. She placed a mug of coffee in front of me and put a tall
jar of sugar and a small pitcher of cream beside the coffee. The sugar was barely out of my hand when she came by and put it back in its original
place on the inside edge of the counter. Since I didn't use the creamer, she took that away. I had to lean back as she lay a paper napkin and
silverware down. Then I had to get out of the way once more as she wiped the space one more time (I must have spilled a few grains of sugar) and set my plate of macaroni down. She asked if I needed anything else, left my check, and wiped the counter in front of a man just sitting down beside me.

1. through physical descriptions that show her to be middle aged with nervous movements
