The Chupacabra is a mythical creature from Central America that would feed on the blood of goats and other farm-animals.   In addition to Central America, there are also reports of the creature in the United States, especially in California.

The shape of the creature is not very clear. As is often the case with folk tales, there are all kinds of contradictory explanations. Whether it is a reptile, mammal or even an alien is not clear from the stories. Some witnesses say it flies and others say it walks or crawls.

In 2007, the Texan farmer's wife Phylis Canyon found the corpse of what she claims is a Chupacabra. A few days later she distributed a photo that went around the world in a day. At first it was thought that it was a coyote with scabies, but according to biologists this is highly likely: an animal suffering from scabies is only bald in certain places. The researchers at Texas State University in San Marcos discovered through DNA testing that this was a bald coyote, where the lack of a coat could have been caused by missing a gene, which could have been caused by inbreeding or crossing species.
