1. Anna felt she was "sinning" because of her adulterous affair with Dmitri Dmitritch Gurov, who was not his legitimate husband.

Such a man may be so attentive to another person or entity, obviously serving their needs and pandering to their whims and caprices, because he has an agenda to achieve. Obsequious men can be deceptive, as their real intentions are difficult to decipher. They can carry out any tasks for those they relate with because they wish to achieve an ulterior motive or enjoy some undue advantages based on their sycophancy. They can be very dangerous at the end of their capricious antics.

4. Anna went to Yalta to escape from her unfulfilling marriage to her husband, and perhaps find a lover to quench her taste. But, the reason she must have given her husband was to just vacation. The truth can be explained by subsequent escapades with Dmitri at Yalta.
