Dear Alina,

I am very pleased to hear that you and your family are fine. In the last letter, you asked me what we should do to protect the environment in our area. I have thought a lot about it and found out some solutions.

The first measure I think is to hold a ''clean-up" campaign in the neighborhood. As you see, nowadays, paths, rivers and lakes are covered with garbage which not only smell unpleasant but also do harm to our health. So it is important to have someone voluntarily clean up the area regularly and also plant more trees for fresh air. There can be tree plantation meaning planting tree in large number. Trees are very important to us in many ways. We cannot think of our existence without trees. Trees cover a great deal of our food deficiency by providing fruits and vitamins. They supply timber for various uses. Trees prevent soil erosion. Many kinds of medicines are prepared form leaves, roots and barks of trees. Above all, they help us to keep ecological balance supplying oxygen. Generally trees are planted in July and August. They can be planted in rood sides and in all educational institution. But our trees and forests are not sufficient in proportion to our total land area. To preserve our environment we should plant more and more trees. Government should encourage the people for plantation by various media.
