Plot - How the author arranges events to develop the basic idea; it is the sequence of events in a story or play. The plot is a planned, logical series of events having a beginning, middle, and end.

How to fill in the Story map
1. Title and Author
2. Theme:
Write a sentence explaining the theme, in the long box at the top. The theme is the author's message. (Common themes are "Love conquers all", "Nothing good is easy", "War involves sacrifice")
3. Introduction:
Quote: Choose a sentence or two from the beginning of the story, and
Significance: tell how this relates to the theme
4. Rising Action:
Quote: Choose a sentence or two where the conflict is revealed, and
Significance: tell how this relates to the theme
5. Climax:
Quote: Choose a sentence or two when the main character learns something that will affect the outcome of the story, and
Significance: tell how this relates to the theme
6. Falling Action:
Quote: Choose a sentence or two when events and complications start to fall into place, and
Significance: tell how this relates to the theme
7. Resolution:
Quote: Choose a sentence or two that tells about the final outcome of the story, and
Significance: tell how this relates to the theme
8. Citation:
Cite the source from which you found the story, using MLA style
